is a small restaurant in La Marejada hotel that serves up classic breakfast with Tico flavor like eggs benedict with avocado and tomato, specialty wraps like a great buffalo chicken, interesting salads, and some great seafood fusion dishes for dinner. Kike's
specializes in typical Costa Rican food. You can often find proprietor Kike himself greeting guests as he is the unofficial mayor of Playa Grande. Gallo pinto for breakfast and casados for lunch and dinner are great ideas. The chicken with mushroom sauce is excellent. Pizzas are a good choice if the restaurant is crowded as they come out faster. Kike's is a great place to meet locals and tourists in town. This is the choice were most people head to when all the other restaurants are closed for the night. If you time it right, this place can produce some entertaining night life with lively crowds, karaoke, and billiard showdowns.
The Great Waltini's at Bula Bula is an upscale restaurant located in Palm Beach Estates. Proprietors Wally and Todd serve up excellent seafood dishes and also have a large bar with great wine list.
Rip Jack Inn
Has a good variety of food that is served throughout the day. Enjoy a nice breakfast in the morning including a choice of fresh fruit, yogurt parfait, bagels, huevos rancheros or a typical Costa Rican breakfast. Lunch you can enjoy an Asian chicken salad, BLT chicken sandwich, BBQ brisket sandwich, cheeseburger in Paradise. Have a great dinner with a variety of options to choose from on a daily basis. A variety of fresh pastas, fresh fish, hot garlic shrimp (favorite), skirt steak, ribs, and chicken parmesan are a few excellent meals just to name a few. Catch a lively crowd and views of the sunset during their happy hour with dollar beers, 2 for 1 wine and well drink specials from 5pm-6pm. Depending on the time of year you can enjoy live music on Friday and Saturday nights.
La Caja Azul
La Caja Azul (The Blue Box) is the only liquor store in Playa Grande. Founders Carlos and Jake have treated us all to a great and well needed store to get some great deals on beer, liquor, wine, etc. Open until midnight, La Caja Azul is located next to Kike’s Place. There are great deals and packages they provide to start the party or to keep it going! They also supply small snacks, water, soda, etc. Also, if you are too lazy or can’t drive ;) they can deliver for a small fee.
